George Abdo (1937-2002) was a musician born to Egyptian and American parents. He began his musical career at the age of 19 at the club Zara in Boston. Abdo was known for his innovative blend of Western and Middle Eastern musical styles through his group, the Flames of Araby. He earned the title "King of Belly Dance Music" for his contributions to the genre.
