George Harrison was a British rock guitarist, singer-songwriter, and film producer, born on February 25, 1943, in Liverpool, England, and passed away on November 29, 2001, in Los Angeles, California. He is best known as the lead guitarist of The Beatles. By the mid-1960s, Harrison became an admirer of Indian culture and mysticism, which he introduced to the other Beatles. In 1968, he traveled with them to Rishikesh, India, to study meditation, embracing the Hare Krishna tradition and becoming a lifelong devotee. Harrison was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004 as a performer and was previously inducted in 1988 as a member of The Beatles. In June 1965, he and the other Beatles were appointed Members of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) and received their insignia from the Queen at Buckingham Palace on October 26. He was honored posthumously with the 2,382nd star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on April 14, 2009. He was married to Pattie Boyd from January 21, 1966, to 1977 and to Olivia Harrison from September 2, 1978, until his death. He was the father of one child with Olivia Harrison and the youngest brother of another notable musician.
