George Kirby was an American comedian, singer, and actor born on June 8, 1923, in Chicago, Illinois. He passed away on September 30, 1995, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Over his four-decade career, Kirby delighted audiences with his impressions, which included notable figures such as John Wayne and Ella Fitzgerald. He began his career in Chicago and moved to Las Vegas in 1952 to perform with a dancer as part of the Count Basie show, making him one of the first black acts to perform in Vegas. As his popularity grew, he headlined solo shows at Caesars Palace and various locations on the Strip. Additionally, he frequently appeared on television with Ed Sullivan, Johnny Carson, and Mike Douglas during the 1960s and '70s.
