George Mgrdichian was an American jazz musician, renowned as the premier proponent of the oud, a pear-shaped lute commonly associated with Middle Eastern folk music. He was born on January 28, 1935, and raised in New York City. Mgrdichian passed away on April 30, 2006, in the Bronx at the age of 71 due to cancer.
