George Riddle was an American singer and songwriter born on September 1, 1935, in Marion, Indiana. He passed away on July 19, 2014, in Indianapolis, Indiana. Riddle is best known for his role as the original Jones Boy, providing high harmony vocals for George Jones when their legendary act began. To avoid confusion among fans regarding their names, he adopted the nickname "Georgie." As a songwriter, Riddle penned songs for numerous artists, including George Jones, Ray Charles, Faron Young, Tammy Wynette, Mickey Gilley, Del Reeves, Melba Montgomery, and Margie Singleton, contributing 13 songs specifically for George Jones. Throughout his career, he recorded for several record labels, such as United Artists, Musicor, MGM, Starday, Marathon, and Roma Records, releasing seven full-length albums and multiple singles.
