George Sams is a jazz trumpet player from St. Louis who has made significant contributions to the nonprofit arts scene in both San Francisco and New York. In 1988, he returned to his hometown, where he performed and produced jazz concerts. In 2005, he founded the Metropolitan Gallery on Locust, which operated until its closure in 2014. Sams also established the Nu-Art series, showcasing concerts by local and national musicians at various venues. This series continues today and features a YouTube archive with over 100 videos of Nu-Art Series concerts.
