Gerhard Heinz is an Austrian composer, lyricist, and pianist, born on September 9, 1927, in Vienna, Austria. He began his career as a young composer in the 1960s, working as a producer and singing coach for non-German speaking Schlager stars. Heinz composed his first scores for German and Austrian films in 1961, primarily for B and C-grade comedies and soft-core action thrillers. He became highly sought after for porn soundtracks, creating infectious soul jazz infused with funk and disco elements. Over his career, Heinz composed more than 130 scores for various films. While he is best known for his work on exploitation movies, one of his notable collaborations was with Austrian director Franz Antel, for whom he scored the four-part series Der Bockerer, which explores the life of a naive Viennese butcher in Nazi Germany. This series, highly regarded in Austrian cinema, spanned three decades, with the first installment released in 1981 and the final film in 2003.
