German Oak was an obscure band from Düsseldorf known for their self-produced debut, which consisted mainly of spontaneous recording sessions held in a bunker. According to an online statement from the alleged bandleader, the music was later released by a friend of the band who created the group name, titles, and artwork based on World War II themes, without the band's input. The LP was not released in 1972 or 1973 but was instead issued sometime between the late 1970s and mid-1980s by Manfred Uhr, the same individual who later released an expanded edition on Witch & Warlock CD in 1991.
