Gesaffelstein, the main recording alias of French techno artist and DJ Mike Lévy, was born on June 24, 1985, in Lyon, France. He has collaborated with and remixed tracks for a diverse range of artists, including Tiga, Miss Kittin, ASAP Rocky, Lana Del Rey, and Phoenix. Notably, he produced two tracks on Kanye West's sixth album, including the lead single "Black Skinhead" and "Send It Up." Gesaffelstein released his debut album on October 28, 2013, after working on it since 2011. His remix of "Shockwave" by the American electro group is featured in the 2013 video game "Grand Theft Auto V" on the Soulwax FM radio station. The name Gesaffelstein is a portmanteau of Gesamtkunstwerk, which means "total artwork" in German, and Albert Einstein.
