Gescom is a collective project that stands for "Gestalt Communications," which began its activities in the early 1990s. The collective has released music through various labels, including Clear, Leaf, Chocolate Industries, SKAM, Warp, Worm Interface, and Source. Often mistakenly viewed as merely a side project of Autechre, Gescom actually serves as a platform for numerous aligned artists to collaborate in various combinations while maintaining their anonymity. The personnel involved in Gescom varies from release to release and even track to track. According to the Autechre FAQ, the Gescom crew comprises nearly 20 individuals, with Sean Booth describing it as an "umbrella-project."
