Ghostface Killah, born Dennis Coles on May 9, 1970, is an American rapper and a prominent member of the Wu-Tang Clan. He launched his solo career with the album Ironman in 1996, which received critical acclaim. Over the years, he has continued to achieve success with notable albums such as Supreme Clientele (2000) and Fishscale (2006). His stage name is inspired by a character from the 1979 kung fu film Mystery of Chessboxing, and he is the founder of his own label, Starks Enterprises. Ghostface Killah is renowned for his loud, fast-paced flow and emotional, stream-of-consciousness narratives filled with cryptic slang and non-sequiturs. He has been recognized by MTV as one of the greatest MCs of all time and was included in About.com's list of the Top 50 MCs of Our Time (1987–2007) for his imaginative storytelling abilities. Q magazine has referred to him as "rap's finest storyteller," while Pitchfork Media praised his storytelling instincts, calling him potentially the best storyteller in rap history. NPR described him as a compulsive storyteller, noting that his fictional narratives are painterly in nature.
