Gianni Gebbia is an internationally renowned Italian saxophonist, flutist, and composer, born in Palermo, Sicily. He graduated from the University of Palermo's Faculty of Philosophy and is known for his experimental and avant-garde jazz style. Gebbia is recognized as one of the world's leading specialists in the circular breathing technique, enabling him to produce continuous, long tones that often create polyphonic illusions. In 1990, he performed as a soloist at the Total Music Meeting in Berlin, organized by FMP, alongside notable musicians such as Steve Lacy and Lindsay Cooper. The following year, he collaborated with German percussionist Gunther Sommer and double bassist Peter Kowald, reviving a historic duo in European free jazz. In 2000, The Wire magazine acknowledged him as one of the leading solo saxophone players.
