Giant Crab was a psychedelic band hailing from Santa Barbara, California, active in the 1960s. Their first single was released by Corby Productions, after which the members of another band took over the Giant Crab name. They quickly gained a reputation as a hard rocking band, releasing a series of singles and two LPs in rapid succession. While the Emperors were known for their live performances, Giant Crab earned recognition for their recordings. In 1969, members Ernie, Cory, and Brian collaborated with Steve Dunwoodie to tour the southeastern United States under the name Big Brother Ernie Joseph, presenting a significantly heavier sound.
