Gibson Kente (July 23, 1932 – November 7, 2004) was a prominent South African playwright, screenplay writer, and musician. Born in Duncan Village, near East London, South Africa, Kente made significant contributions to the arts and was instrumental in teaching many high-profile South African performers the skills of acting, singing, and dancing. He passed away in Soweto, South Africa.
