Gilli Smyth was an English musician, poet, and writer, born on June 1, 1933, in London, England. She co-founded a band with her former partner and was also in a partnership between 1977 and 1992, during which time she moved to Australia in 1982. Gilli was the mother of two children. She was known for inventing an echoing vocal style called Space Whisper. Gilli Smyth passed away on August 22, 2016, in Byron Bay, New South Wales, Australia.
