Ginger Baker’s Air Force was a British jazz-rock fusion supergroup led by drummer Ginger Baker, formed in late 1969 following the disbandment of Blind Faith. The original lineup featured notable musicians including Steve Winwood (organ, vocals), Ric Grech (violin, bass), Jeanette Jacobs (vocals), Denny Laine (guitar, vocals), Phil Seamen (drums), Alan White (drums), Chris Wood (tenor saxophone, flute), Graham Bond (alto saxophone), Harold McNair (tenor saxophone, flute), and Remi Kabaka (percussion). Their initial live performances took place at Birmingham Town Hall in 1969 and the Royal Albert Hall in 1970, with Eleanor Barooshian also participating. The group performed at Wembley Stadium on April 19, 1970, during the World Cup Rally from London to Mexico City. In late 2015, Baker announced plans for a new version of Ginger Baker's Air Force, dubbed Ginger Baker's Air Force 3, intending to tour in 2016 and showcase new talent alongside longtime collaborators. However, after a brief show in London on January 26, 2015, which was cut short due to Baker's health issues, the entire tour was canceled in February 2016 following a diagnosis of serious heart problems. Ginger Baker passed away in October 2019.
