Giovanni Imparato is a percussionist born in Naples, Italy, on November 25, 1961. He studied percussion with conservatory teachers, notably learning the fundamentals from maestro Salvatore Valletta. Giovanni specialized in Afro-Cuban rhythms and instruments in Cuba with teachers such as Justo Pelladito, Carlos Aldama Perez, Lowered Angel Chang, Reinaldo Hernandez, Guillermo Lopez Clemente, and Nenè Alejandro Carvajal. He furthered his studies in New York with John Amira and in Senegal with Sing Sing Faye of Dakar. With a diverse interest in musical expressions like Salsa, Jazz, Funk, Ethnic, and World music, he has participated in various dance shows as a percussionist, singer, ballet dancer, and performer. In 1991, he composed music for theater for the Festival of Todi. He studied singing in Cuba with Goyo Hernandez and Lazaro Ros, and in Italy with tenor Luigi Rumbo and soprano Rosanna Rossoni. Alongside singing, he deepened his dance studies with Cuban dancer Carmen de Armas. Currently, Giovanni teaches rhythms and Afro-Cuban musical instruments in Rome, Naples, and Cagliari. He is an endorser of "Remo" percussion and teaches exclusively in Italy for the DRUMCIRCLE at MANANARA's Company.
