Gloria Lynne, born Gloria Wilson on November 23, 1931, in Harlem, New York, was a talented soul, R&B, jazz bop, and pop singer. The daughter of a gospel singer, she began her musical journey singing in church. Lynne gained recognition after winning first prize during an "Amateur Night" at the Apollo Theater. In the 1950s, she recorded with various groups and later pursued a solo career in the 1960s, achieving small hits with songs like "June Night," "Love I Found You," and "I Wish You Love." After a hiatus, she made a comeback in the 1990s and received the International Women of Jazz Award in 1996. Throughout her career, Lynne made nearly 400 recordings. She passed away from a heart attack on October 15, 2013. In 2008, she was featured in the "History Makers" project, where she confirmed her date of birth.
