Gloria Scott is a soul singer born on February 26, 1946, in Port Arthur, Texas, USA. She later moved to the San Francisco Bay area, where she met Sly Stone, as her aunt sang in a group with him. After hearing her sing "Gee Whiz," Sly formed a group for her and wrote the two sides of their single "I Taught Him." Following this, Scott became a backup singer as a member of the Ikettes. In the early 1970s, she caught the attention of a label owner who signed her and licensed her debut album. Although her non-album single "Just As Long As We're Together" was a hit in 1974, she never released a second album, despite having signed a seven-year deal with the label.
