Godspeed You! Black Emperor is a Canadian post-rock band formed in 1994 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The band experienced a hiatus from 2004 to 2009. Initially named Godspeed You Black Emperor!, they later adopted the name Godspeed You! Black Emperor. As an experimental nine-piece ensemble, they specialize in instrumental music. The members include guitarists, bassists, a violinist, percussionists, and artists responsible for 16mm film projections.
