Golden Cups was a Japanese Group Sounds rock band formed in Yokohama in December 1966. The band covered a diverse range of UK and US rock, blues, and soul songs. They released ten singles and several albums before disbanding in 1971. Marketed by their agency as a 'half'-Japanese group to align with the popularity of Western rock music at the time, the members adopted stage names such as 'Dave', 'Eddy', 'Mickie', 'Louis', and 'John'. Among the members, Louis Kabe was said to be half-French, and Eddy Ban was half-British. However, only Eddy Ban was ethnically non-Japanese, being born to Chinese parents in Yokohama's Chinatown, while Kenneth Ito, born in Hawaii, was Japanese-American with both parents of Japanese descent.
