Gong Yi is a Chinese musician and composer born in Nanjing. He is a renowned master of the guqin, an ancient plucked seven-string musical instrument of the zither family. Gong Yi is best known for his role as the director and sole guqin player of the Shanghai Chinese Orchestra.
