Goto80 is an artist from Gothenburg, Sweden, who engages with music, text, art, and research, often focusing on low-tech and handmade digital aesthetics. Influenced by the demoscene subculture, he began creating chipmusic in the 1990s, leading to numerous record releases and tours across Europe, the Americas, Asia, and Oceania. Goto80 has a particular interest in text-based visuals, such as ASCII and PETSCII, and has collaborated with coders, animators, VJs, and video producers while also creating his own text graphics. His work has been showcased at various events, and he is involved in a recent project with an unnamed collaborator. As an independent researcher, he has published texts on the demoscene, chipmusic, and text graphics since 2008 and runs text-mode.org, where he is currently exploring the history of music software.
