Grand Funk Railroad, also known simply as Grand Funk, is an American rock band formed in 1969 in Flint, Genesee County, Michigan. They gained immense popularity in the 1970s, frequently touring sold-out venues around the world. Their name is a play on the Grand Trunk and Western Railroad, a railway line that passed through their hometown. The band's lineup includes Mark Farner on vocals and guitar, Don Brewer on drums and vocals, Mel Schacher on bass, and Craig Frost on keyboards. Rolling Stone magazine has noted, “You can't talk about 1970s rock without talking about GRAND FUNK RAILROAD!”
