Gretchen, born Maria Odete Brito de Miranda on May 29, 1959, in Rio de Janeiro, is a Brazilian singer, businesswoman, YouTuber, and occasional actress. She is the sister of a singer and the mother of Thammy Miranda. Over her nearly four-decade career, she has sold approximately 15 million records and gained fame as the "Rainha do Bumbum" ("Butt Queen") in the late 1970s. Her stage name was inspired by the 1976 film "Aleluia, Gretchen," which tells the story of a German Brazilian immigrant family. Gretchen began her career doing backing vocals before appearing on a TV show in 1978, leading to her debut single, "Dance With Me." She achieved significant success with her albums "My Name Is Gretchen," "You and Me," and "Lonely," released between 1980 and 1982. These albums featured iconic songs such as "Freak Le Boom Boom," "Melô do Piripipi," and "Conga Conga Conga," contributing to her selling over 12 million albums worldwide.
