Grotus was an industrial and experimental rock band from San Francisco, California, active from 1989 to 1996. The band was formed by Adam Tanner and John Carson, later joined by vocalist Lars Fox and Bruce Boyd. Grotus featured two bassists and two drummers, incorporating ethnic instruments and humorous lyrics into their music. The group disbanded after their third album, "Mass," failed to chart a single for their label, London Records. Grotus is primarily remembered for being associated with Jello Biafra's Alternative Tentacles record label and for receiving promotion from Faith No More's Mike Patton.
