Grover Mitchell was an American jazz trombonist, born on March 17, 1930, in Whatley, Alabama. He passed away on August 4, 2003, in Manhattan, New York, USA. Throughout his career, Mitchell played with notable ensembles, including the Count Basie Orchestra, as well as with Duke Ellington and Lionel Hampton. In the early 1970s, he began composing music for television and films, contributing to the soundtrack of the hit 1972 film "Lady Sings the Blues."
