Grupo Los Reyes, founded in 1973 in Catamayo, Ecuador, emerged as a vibrant force in the country's music scene. Originating from the earlier ensemble Los Rítmicos, the group was established by five friends: Sergio Díaz (keyboard), Adolfo Alvarado (guitar), Guillermo Ojeda (congas), Luis Carrión (bass), and Bolívar Carrión (timbales and güiro). Their repertoire spanned tropical music, cumbias, and boleros, drawing inspiration from renowned artists like Don Medardo y sus Players and Pastor López. Over nearly three decades, Los Reyes captivated audiences across Loja, El Oro, and Zamora provinces, becoming a beloved icon of Ecuadorian music. The ensemble disbanded in 1994 following the passing of some members and the challenge of finding suitable replacements.
