Grupo Caneo is a Colombian salsa romantica group that was formed in the 1980s in Medellín. The group emerged at the height of the salsa romantica craze, specifically in August 1988, when a group of friends, passionate about salsa, came together to fill a void in the Medellín music scene. The name "Caneo" is derived from a Cuban slang term meaning "friend." The group was established under the direction and production of Juan Guillermo Galvis C.
