Grupo Ciruela was a Mexican heavy psych rock band from the 1970s, known for their progressive hints. Originating from Reynosa, Tamaulipas, near the US border, the band had two notable line-ups. The first consisted of Guillermo Garibay on drums, César Cal on guitar, Saúl Soto on bass, and Daniel Valenz on lead vocals. The second line-up featured Guillermo Garibay on drums, Gallo Esparza on bass and vocals, Billy Valle and Javier Villafuerte on guitars, and Luis Pérez on flute and vocals. Their only album, released in 1973, is regarded as one of the best examples of Mexican rock and earned them the reputation of being the Mexican Deep Purple. Following the album's release, the group disbanded.
