Guillermo Portabales was a Cuban singer-songwriter and guitarist, born on April 6, 1911, in Rodas, Cuba. He gained prominence for popularizing the Guajira style of Cuban music from the 1930s through the 1960s. Portabales passed away on October 25, 1970, in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
