Gustavo Pacheco, born on December 26, 1951, in Guayaquil, is a distinguished musician and composer. He is the son of Gustavo Pacheco García and Amarilis Cucalón Estrada. Pacheco completed his education in Guayaquil, attending Víctor Emilio Estrada school for elementary, Vicente Rocafuerte secondary school, and graduated as a Medical Technologist from the Technological School of Medicine at the University of Guayaquil. His musical journey began at the age of 10 when his mother taught him to play the guitar. By 15, he formed the youth group Los Picapiedras, which performed alongside César Augusto, a popular artist of the Nueva Ola movement in Guayaquil. Later, he joined Los Incognitos and, in 1969, established the beloved musical group "Boddega" with brothers Miguel and Homero Gallardo. With Boddega, he recorded his first original song, "El Hombre Sin Cabeza," which became a significant hit during a time when local artists typically covered foreign songs. He continued to write popular songs such as "Dame tu Amor," "En tu Corazón Tengo un Lugar," and "En tus Ojos y en tu Sonrisa." Pacheco's reputation as a composer quickly grew, leading to requests from Ecuadorian producers and artistic directors to create songs for various performers.
