Gypsy was an American progressive rock band originating from Minneapolis-Saint Paul, Minnesota. Formed in 1969, they became the house band at the Whisky a Go Go in West Hollywood from September 1969 to April 1971. Their music, primarily composed by guitarist and singer Enrico Rosenbaum, blended intricate melodies with rock elements. They are best known for their 1970 single "Gypsy Queen Part 1," which reached No. 62 on the US Billboard Hot 100. Drummer Bill Lordan later joined Sly & the Family Stone and had a long career with Robin Trower. Keyboardist James "Owl" Walsh continued the band's legacy through various incarnations, including the James Walsh Gypsy Band.
