Hachidai Nakamura was a Japanese composer and jazz pianist, born on January 20, 1931, and passed away on June 10, 1992. He is best known for his song "Sukiyaki" (「上を向いて歩こう」) and many other popular Japanese hits from the late 1950s and early 1960s. He was also the brother of a clarinetist and composer.
