Haciendo Punto en Otro Son is a Puerto Rican 'nueva trova' and folkloric music band founded in 1975 by musicians Silverio Pérez, Tony Croatto, Josy Latorre, Irvin García, and Nano Cabrera. The original quintet debuted at 'La Tea' night club in Old San Juan, PR, offering daily concerts from October 30 to November 2, 1975. Their unique sound, which combines Puerto Rican and South American influences with percussion, guitar, cuatro, flute, and güiro, alongside harmonious vocal arrangements and socially conscious lyrics, quickly made them popular among students and the working class. The band later gained significant popularity, becoming the most successful nueva trova group in Puerto Rico and enjoying recognition in the Dominican Republic, Cuba, Mexico, the United States, and various South American countries. Over the years, Haciendo Punto en Otro Son has recorded twelve albums and two live concerts. They have remained active for over 50 years, despite several interruptions and lineup changes, with some original members leaving and returning, as well as new musicians joining the group. Notable members have included José Paché Cruz, Ivan Gonzalez Aulet, Moncho Díaz, José Vallejo, Jorge Arce, Ileana “Nana” Latorre, Nena Rivera, Cuqui Rodríguez, Pedro Guzmán, Rayda Cotto, José Vega, Millito Cruz, José "Chiqui" García, and Alex Croatto.
