Hamilton Bohannon was an American disco producer, songwriter, arranger, and bandleader, born on March 7, 1942, in Newnan, Georgia, USA. He passed away on April 24, 2020. In the early 1960s, he moved to Detroit, where he worked as a sideman from 1965 to 1967 and became the arranger for all of Motown's top acts. In the early 1970s, he relocated to Los Angeles but continued to maintain ties to Detroit. He formed his own band and released 21 albums between 1973 and 1990. Bohannon is best known for his hit song “Let’s Start The Dance,” released in 1978.
