Handgjort is a Swedish psychedelic folk group that emerged within the progressive movement. Formed in 1969 by Greg FitzPatrick after his return from Asia, the band initially included members Guy Öhrström, Theo Greyerz, and Stig-Arne Karlsson. They gained recognition by performing at the "gärdesfesterna" in Stockholm in 1970 and contributed to the compilation album "Festen på Gärdet." The lineup later expanded to include Jan Bandel, Kenneth Arnström, and Björn J: son Lindh. In 1970, Handgjort released their self-titled album "Handmade," which showcased a blend of traditional Indian music elements, such as tabla and sitar, with Western instruments. The album is notable for its unique hand-painted envelopes, with only 901 copies produced. Their final performance at the Gärdesfesten in 1971 featured around 20 members, including notable musicians like Mikael Ramel, Sam Ellison, and Don Cherry. After the band disbanded, FitzPatrick moved on to his next project. In 2010, the record label Psykofon released a replica of the 1970 album in 600 vinyl copies, while Silence Records and Psykofon reissued it as a CD in 1000 copies, both featuring unique, numbered covers and bonus material, including live recordings from the 1971 performance.
