Hank The Cowhand, born on October 9, 1912, in Mexia, Texas, was a prominent figure in the western swing music scene. He was associated with the group Zeke Williams and his Rambling Cowboys, where he may have played bass under the name Hank Holland on their American Record Company recordings in 1937. In 1939, Hank led a group called the "Dude Ranchers," with programs airing over KXOK in St. Louis and KFRU out of Columbia, MO. After serving in the military during wartime, he joined the musical staff at WMMN Fairmont, where he was involved in their Saturday night Sagebrush Roundup. Hank also headed a group called the Foggy Mountain Boys, a name that would later be famously used by Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs. He passed away on October 2, 1966.
