Harmonica Frank was born on October 11, 1908, in Toccopola, Mississippi, and passed away on August 7, 1984, in Blanchester, Ohio. He began his career as a comedian and musician in the carnival and medicine show circuits during his teenage years. For approximately 30 years, he lived as a hobo. In the 1930s and 1940s, he worked for several radio stations and recorded a few tracks in 1951. In 1954, he recorded the proto-rockabilly song "Rockin' Chair Daddy" for Sun Record Company, becoming the first white musician to do so at the studio. He was rediscovered in 1972 during the folk revival.
