Harold Land was an American hard bop and post-bop jazz tenor saxophonist and composer, born on December 18, 1928, in Houston, Texas. He was the father of a jazz pianist. Land passed away on July 27, 2001, in Los Angeles, California, at the age of 72. It is important not to confuse him with the songwriter known as Bernard Lowenthal.
