Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes was an American R&B, Soul, Funk, and Disco male vocal quintet hailing from Philadelphia, PA. Originally formed in the mid-50s, they changed their name to "Harold Melvin And The Blue Notes" in the mid-60s. The group became one of the most popular soul acts of the Philly soul scene in the '70s, although they experienced several line-up changes throughout their career. In the mid-70s, they split again, and another group revived the original band name, with members who were formerly part of the backing band behind the ex-drummer and new lead singer.
