Harold Melvin And The Blue Notes was an American R&B/Soul, Funk, and Disco male vocal quintet from Philadelphia, PA. Originally formed in the mid-50s, they changed their name to "Harold Melvin And The Blue Notes" in the mid-60s. One of the original members later started his own group. The band became one of the most popular soul acts of the Philly soul scene in the '70s. Throughout their career, they underwent several line-up changes. In the mid-70s, they split again, and another group revived the original band name, which had formerly been the backing band behind the ex-drummer and new lead singer.
