Hashim, born Jerry Calliste Jr. on November 26, 1965, in the Bronx, New York, is an American entrepreneur, music industry executive, songwriter, record producer, and former DJ. He is best known for his influential 1983 recording "Al-Naafiysh (The Soul)," a classic in hip hop, electro-funk, and dance music.
