He Said was the solo project of a member known for his releases in the 1980s. The first single, "Only One I," was released in October 1985 on Mute Records, followed by the debut album "Hail" a year later. The music on "Hail" featured a more electronic sound compared to Wire's work, reflecting the evolution of post-punk and experimental music of that era. Two additional singles, "Pump" in April 1986 and "Pale Feet" in September 1986, were released from the album. In February 1989, Lewis released the second album, "Take Care," along with the single "Could You?" in July 1988, which would be the last He Said release to date.
