Hector Lavoe was an American salsa singer and artist, born on September 30, 1946, in Machuelo Abajo, Ponce, Puerto Rico. He passed away on June 29, 1993, in Manhattan, New York City, at the age of 46. Known as "El Cantante De Los Cantantes" (The Singer Of Singers), Lavoe was a prominent salsa and bolero singer. He moved to New York at the age of 17, where he collaborated with various artists on their label, producing more than 10 albums over an eight-year period until 1974. He later achieved even greater fame working on his own. He was also the uncle of a notable figure.
