Hedy West was an American folksinger, songwriter, and musician, born on April 6, 1938, in Cartersville, Georgia. She moved to New York City in 1959 to study music and drama, where she became an important participant in the folk revival movement. Known for her unique three-fingered 'claw-hammer' picking technique, she showcased her talents on both guitar and banjo. Hedy West passed away on July 3, 2005.
