Heights of Abraham is a musical project formed in 1992 by Steve Cobby, one half of Fila Brazillia, and Harries and Lister, former members of the Sheffield funk band Chakk. They are known for their "model chill-out with dreamy vapours" sound. Their debut album, Humidity, released in 1993, received praise from Melody Maker's Dave Simpson for its blend of airy melodies and subsonic bass, creating vivid auditory experiences. In 1995, their release Electric Hush was highlighted by Select Magazine's Emma Warren, who compared it to iconic albums such as Massive Attack's 'Blue Lines' and Marvin Gaye's 'What's Goin' On?'. The album features Jake Harries' distinctive bass-tone vocals and the standout track 'EVA', which reimagines saxophones in a melodic context. Their latest album, Two Thousand and Six, released in 2005, has been described by Richard Dorfmeister as a "completely underrated downbeat album" that comes highly recommended.
