Henri Pousseur (June 23, 1929 – March 6, 2009) was a Belgian composer born in Malmedy. He studied at the music conservatories in Liège and Brussels. Pousseur worked alongside notable figures such as Pierre Boulez and Karlheinz Stockhausen on dodecaphonic and serial music in Cologne and Milan before founding his own studio in Brussels in 1958. From 1957, he taught composition in Darmstadt, Cologne, Basel, Buffalo, and later in Liège, where he also directed the city music conservatory. He was well-known for his collaborations with French poet Michel Butor, producing works such as Votre Faust (1960-1968), Répons (1960-1965), Le procès du jeune chien (1974-1978), La rose des voix (1982), Déclarations d'orages (1989), Les leçons d'enfer (1991), and Le Sablier du Phénix (1993). Pousseur was married and was the father of several children.
