Henry Torgue is a classically trained concert pianist based in Grenoble, France. In the 1970s, he recorded instrumental albums under the name Henry Skoff-Torgue, focusing on the organ within a contemporary new-music setting. His debut LP, "Souvenirs Des Cités Crépusculaires," released in 1976, showcased a reflective and restrained style reminiscent of Terry Riley. Unsatisfied with the initial release, he re-recorded the album three years later and also released "Compartiment Fuchsia," both of which blended organ and synthesizer with classical and progressive elements to create a unique sound. In 1979, after founding the Emile Dubois Group, he began using the name Henry Torgue, often co-billing with choreographer Serge Houppin. He developed a distinct musical language, composing and performing music for various dance, film, and video projects, collaborating with notable figures in the dance and theatre world, including Jean-Claude Gallotta, Carolyn Carlson, and Philippe Genty.
