Herb Alpert is an American trumpeter, vocalist, composer, band leader, and producer, born on March 31, 1935, in Los Angeles, California. He co-founded a music group in 1962 with a partner and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2006, receiving a Lifetime Achievement award. He married in 1973 and is the father of a child with Sharon Mae Lubin. Notably, for the song "Rise" and any songs that sample it, the songwriting credit R. Alpert refers to Herb's nephew.
